Our stories

One of the core goals of Stykka is to eliminate waste generation and stop materials from ending up in landfills or being incinerated. We use disruptive technology to eliminate building waste, and hence decrease greenhouse gas emissions over time. Our approach to sustainability is easy - even old school some might say - makes stuff that last longer, is produced responsibly and if it breaks make it possible for it to be repaired. To sum it up we have these principles in mind:
Circular by design
It’s estimated that about 80% of a products impact is determined already in the design process. Design is integral in the shift to the circular economy, which is why all Stykka products are designed ground up circular. Circular design is about creating products and services that no longer have a lifecycle with a beginning, a middle and an end. The purpose is to design products that can be made to be made again. As a result their will be less waste to the benefit for people and planet.
Responsible manufacturing
We have stripped away the excess and created products that require less materials to be produced. We leave no process unturned and design out waste whenever possible. For example, we have removed the double wall normally seen between kitchen cabinets - saving 15,8% material in the process. All products are manufactured through Stykka’s digital manufacturing platform, allowing us to produce only the amounts needed and avoid overproduction. We always produce as close to the site as possible, lowering the emissions from transportation.
Longlasting
We don’t quite get why we make buildings that can last more than 100 years, but all the interiors we put inside them have a lifespan of 5-15 years. Our products are built to last and outperform. Due to their use of high quality materials, timeless look, upgradability and ease of repair, they will stay relevant for generations to come. Should they even outlast the building, their design allows for them to be taken apart and built into another project.
SUSTAINABILTY

01
DURABLE MATERIAL
We use our kitchens every day. That's why our products are made from high-quality, durable plywood that can withstand even the most persistent wear and tear environments as well as heat and moisture.

02
DESIGNED TO BE REPAIRED
Over time stuff will break. Fortunately, all Stykka products are designed for disassembly, meaning you don’t have to throw out the whole kitchen if an item is damaged. Just replace the broken part and your kitchen is as good as new.

03
MATERIAL PASSPORT
Keeping track of stuff such as installation date, the model, not to mention what parts is where can be a tedious task - especially if you manage several thousand units. That’s why all Stykka interiors comes with our digital stock keeping system; TrackID™.
The key to long lasting interiors
Our mission
We are on a mission to change the construction industry. It is by far the most polluting sector in the world, causing irreversible damage to our planet, animals, and human lives. We want to change it - today, not tomorrow.
30% of all waste comes from construction
Construction creates an estimated third of the world's overall waste. This waste is dumped in such vast quantities that its environmental imprint has already wrecked pervasive and irreversible impacts on our planet.

91% of materials are only used once
Over 90% of all materials extracted and used are wasted. Our take-make-waste economy consumes 100 billion tonnes of materials a year, and only 8.6% make it back into our economy.

40% of global emissions
The construction industry alone generates nearly 40% of all annual global CO2 emissions.Of those total emissions, building operations are responsible for 28% annually, while building materials and construction are responsible for an additional 11%.

The industry is broken
The interior industry is extremely wasteful and responsible of billions of tonnes of waste ending up in incinerators or landfils each year. The average lifespan of a kitchen is only 11,2 years.
