At Stykka we use Forbo Furniture Linoleum for the colors options for our kitchen fronts.
Forbo Furniture Linoleum is a standout sustainable choice because it is crafted from natural and rapidly renewable materials like linseed oil, rosin, and wood flour.
It avoids the environmental toll of synthetic plastics by being PVC-free and low-emitting, ensuring healthy indoor air quality.
Furthermore, its natural durability and unique self-healing properties extend the product's lifespan, preventing premature replacement and reducing waste over the long term.
FSC-certified birch plywood
Our durable kitchens are build using strong 18 mm clear lacquered birch plywood. Our parts are cut and lacquered in Denmark.
FSC-certified birch plywood offers a sustainable framework for furniture by using timber sourced from responsibly managed forests that prioritize biodiversity and regeneration.
As a natural material, it functions as a long-term carbon sink, locking away CO₂ for the product's lifetime.
Front material
Despite the structural advantages of plywood, it is not without its limitations. Like any timber-based product, it reacts to its environment and can occasionally bow, twist, or delaminate over time when not secured in place. While historical joinery techniques were developed to manage material movement for free hanging fronts, we prefer a more consistent solution. We manufacture our doors and drawer fronts using Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). By compressing fine wood fibers into dense, uniform sheets, MDF creates a completely flat and stable surface that eliminates the warping often found in free hanging plywood fronts.
