Maintenance

Introduction

Stykka’s kitchens consist of sustainable products materials of the highest quality, which with the right care can last many years.

Plywood maintenance

Stykka’s cabinets consist of clear lacquered plywood in the quality BB/BB and B/BB. The lacquering provides a surface that is easy to clean, very durable and resistant to dust and

dirt. Lacquered surfaces are sensitive to moisture, steam and alcohol - therefore never leave liquids behind on the surface, as the liquid can penetrate microscopic cracks in under the paint and cause shields. Be aware that lacquered surfaces require a minimum of 4 weeks to harden. Therefore, in the first 4 weeks, avoid putting heat and/ or moist objects on the furniture.

Daily cleaning of lacquered wood:

Wipe with a clean, dry cloth – always in the longitudinal direction of the wooden structure, as his minimizes possible small scratches caused by dust particles. Stains must be removed with a cleaning agent suitable for varnished wooden surfaces. If it is necessary to wash the furniture, use a cloth that has been wrung out tightly lukewarm water to which a little all-purpose cleaner has been added. choose a mild detergent without abrasive properties. Immediately after cleaning the surface must be wiped with a dry cloth. Cleaning agents suitable for varnished wood can be, for example: Universal detergent, soap shavings (1/4 dl to 1 l water - cool) or warm water with 10% vinegar. Do not use: Acetone, lye, brown soap, organics, solvents and abrasives for cleaning the lacquered wooden surfaces.

Linoleum maintenance

Linoleum fronts requires care with the right cleaning agents. Linoleum is made from natural materials: linseed oil, resin, wood flour,

lime flour and environmentally friendly colorpigments. If linoleum is properly maintained, itwill patina beautifully.

Small scratches:

Scratches can be buffed out with a walnut.

Daily cleaning of linoleum:

Clean the entire surface with a damp cloth if necessary. with a neutral cleaning agent (e.g. Monel in a mixing ratio of 0.5 cl to 1 l of water).

Use a soft cloth and not a scouring pad or similar.

Periodic cleaning of linoleum

For ongoing maintenance of the surface, use linoleum care or Monel in a mixing ratio of 0.5-1 to 1 liter of water. In case of heavy soiling a suitable neutral cleaning agent is used (e.g. Forbo Cleaner, a degreasing detergent). As a starting point, never use detergents with a pH value above 9.0 for linoleum. Do not use brown soap, acetone, lye, chlorine, sulfo, ethanol, salmiac or soda.

Linoleum stain removal:

To prevent stubborn stains, coasters are recommended underneath flowerpots, vases and preferably cups and glasses etc. If stains occur, remove them as soon as possible so that they do not penetrate down into the material.
